The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling is extremely rare in Europe but more diffused in North America: with its red coat it is the breed of Retriever more not to be found and in 1982 it's been recognized by the FCI (Federazione Cinologica Internazionale). Another peculiarity of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling is its size: among the Retriever it is the smallest.
The Nova Scotia Duck Tolling is a specialist in duck hunting, it is smart, it is easy to train, able and water resistant: it was selected in the Canadian region of Varmouth County in Nova Scotia. In the last century it was called the Little River Duck Dog, nicknamed Toller.
